When this National Geographic piece narrated by Morgan Freeman left the Abrahamic religions, it said that they were essentially occupied with the apocalypse or day of judgement. He moved on to those which were cyclical by starting with the Mayans.

On closer examination, he might have noticed something in the Christian message. It is the declaration that the 'day of judgement' has arrived in Christ. This is what Romans 3's last paragraphs are about. The gift of the 'righteousness of God' to us is not an act of wrath of God at us directly, but the gift of grace in Christ who intervened for us. This was a public demonstration, Paul teaches, so that God would be both just (fair) and the Justifier of the person who believes on Christ.

So to be true, we must say that the Christian message is significantly different about the day of judgement: it is as though we can stand on the back side of it, because of the unbelievably good news that the Judge of All became the Judged for All.

I'm a little lost at what point you're trying to make with this bit of knowledge . Are you saying they're is no day of judgment yet to come, and that it has already come according to Christian teachings?

It is 'as though' (in the sense used twice in Rom 4) it has already happened. This should not be a surprise to a Christian believer, because we, after all, believe Christ intercepted God's wrath on our behalf, and that is the same thing. I just don't think you've ever heard anyone say it this way. It has a uniqueness that Freeman or the writer could not express.
