There are 78 instances in the New Testament of being "In Christ" making it a major doctrine. What does it mean to be "In Christ"? It means that you have come to Christ as a repentant sinner, believing and depending upon Christ to save you. This is why Paul wrote, "Whosoever that shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13. Calling upon the name of the Lord is an act of faith.
When a repentant sinner calls upon Christ to save him, God seals him with the Holy Spirit and spiritually places him "In Christ".
"In whom you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in whom after that you believed, YOU WERE SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE" Ephesians 1:13.
There is no unsealing. Once sealed, always sealed. The condition for receiving the Holy Spirit is that God must see you "In Christ". When God sees you "In Christ" you are given the Holy Spirit and are spiritually placed "In Christ". God now sees you "In Christ". You are "In Christ" and Christ is in heaven. Our salvation is in a very safe and secure place.
"And has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places "In Christ Jesus" Ephesians 2:6.
God no longer sees us because we are "In Christ". "For you are dead and you life is hid with Christ in God" Colossians 3:3. This is exactly where I want to be. Many do not like this idea of being dead "In Christ". The reason is because if you are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God, you can't try to please him with your works, obedience or religion. The "In Christ" doctrine is the end of all religions and false doctrines.
If we are "In Christ" and Christ is in heaven, then why would anyone need to be predestinated? Answer is, they don't. If we are "In Christ" placed there by God himself, then why would anyone need to join the Catholic church or any church or any religion?
It is Jesus that does the saving, justifying, reconciling, sanctifying and redeeming, 1 Corinthians 1:30. Adding your religion to that is pure blasphemy and counts for nothing.
