The prophet John writes, “And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets," (Revelation 8: 2). These trumpets signify the main political and warlike events that were to occur during the Christian dispensation.

John also saw a new heaven and a new earth, Rev. 21:1, but that is still future. Jesus revealed to John all the events of this world's history, from the experiences of the apostolic church to His return and the creation of the new heaven and earth.
