The Pope is Contrary to Paul

Last year the Pope declared the year 2016 a Jubilee of Mercy, dedicated to Mary, the so-called “mother of Mercy”.
In the Bible, Jubilee years were special years related to the Sabbath laws in Israel. Roman Catholics have assumed these laws in their church.
Contrarily, Paul said, “…how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain” (Gal 4:9-10).

In the Papal bull declaring the Jubilee, the Pope said, “After the sin of Adam and Eve, God did not wish to leave humanity alone in the throes of evil. And so he turned his gaze to Mary, holy and immaculate in love.” So, the Catholics teach that when God chose Christ to save the world, he was choosing Mary to be co-redeemer with Christ.
Contrarily, Paul said that God set forth Christ to be a propitiation, not Mary (Rom 3:25). Redemption is “in Christ Jesus”, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”, and that grace comes “by one man” not two (Rom 3:24; Rom 5:1; Rom 5:15). There are no co-redeemers.

A Pope declared Mary sinless in 1854. In 1870 the First Vatican Council defined Papal infallibility. In 1950 a Pope infallibly declared that Mary ascended into heaven (i.e. the Assumption of Mary). Since they believed her to be without sin, and death comes by sin, then Mary never died but rather ascended into heaven.
Contrarily, Paul says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23). All are sinners except God. God is the only one without sin. Since Jesus was God, he was sinless. Paul said in Jesus dwells “all the fulness of the Godhead bodily”, and that he “knew no sin” (Col 2:9; 2 Cor 5:21).

This past Monday was the Catholic myth turned religious Holy Day of Obligation called the “Assumption of the Blessed Virgin.” The Pope obligates all go to Mass on this day unless it occurs on a Saturday or Monday (which it did this year).
Contrarily, Paul said, “Let no man judge you… in respect of an holyday” – (Col 2:16).

The goal of the Catholic Jubilee year is to renew evangelization through showing the mercy of God to others. The slogan verse for the year of Jubilee is Luke 6:36: “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”
Contrarily, Paul says salvation requires belief in the preaching of the cross: death, burial, resurrection (1 Cor 1:18; 1 Cor 15:1-4). In Luke 6:36 none of the disciples of Christ understood or preached the cross (Luke 9:44-45; Luke 18:33-34). Instead of evangelizing the gospel of Christ through the cross, the Jubilee evangelizes the Catholic church with its claimed ability to grant forgiveness and to show mercy through good works.

In accordance with the special Jubilee of Mercy, the Pope has given all priests the power to forgive the sin of abortion. He has also chosen hundreds of special “missionaries of mercy” that can forgive special sins that previously could only be forgiven by the Pope.
If you have ever spit out the cracker turned to Jesus, or tried to ordain a bishop without the Pope’s permission (as Paul instructed Timothy and Titus), you can be specially forgiven by going to a super-confessor.
Contrarily, Paul says, “there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). Through Christ all trespasses are forgiven when we believe that Christ being made sin for us, died for our sins, and rose again to provide payment in full (Acts 26:18; Rom 4:25; 2 Cor 5:21).
No priest on earth can forgive a single sin today. To believe you get forgiveness through a priest denies the forgiveness offered through the mediation of Christ himself.

The Pope claims authority through an apostolic lineage back to Peter.
Contrarily, Paul withstood Peter to his face, possessed authority equal to Peter’s apostleship, and was given a special dispensation Peter was not (Gal 2:11; 2 Cor 12:11; Gal 2:6).
Paul’s dispensation of the grace of God stands in stark contrast to the Pope’s one year Jubilee of Mercy through Mother Mary.
The Pope’s pronouncements and apostolic authority always miss the mark because they stand contrary to the doctrine Christ gave the apostle Paul. The Pope and Paul are contrary one to another. Beware.
