Possibly, you’ve long heard of the early stages of this, Mel’s Sequel to The Passion. In what I’m sure forecasters will be telling us of another blockbuster, whatever you may feel thus far about Mel Gibson, if ever there was potential waiting to be told over a director’s talent, I still think we have yet to see his finest moments.

'Passion of the Christ' 2 news: Mel Gibson working on movie sequel

Chiqui Guyjoco16 JUNE, 2016

"Hollywood actor and filmmaker, Mel Gibson, is currently working on a sequel to the biggest independent film of all time, "The Passion of the Christ."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award nominee and scriptwriter Randall Wallace confirmed on Thursday, June 9, that he and Gibson are currently working on a storyline about Jesus' resurrection which would be the sequel for "The Passion of the Christ."

Wallace, who gained prominence from writing Oscar's 1995 best picture "Braveheart," claims that the story of resurrection is his specialty. He also happens to have taken a religion major at Duke University.

"I always wanted to tell this story," Wallace shared with The Hollywood Reporter. "'The Passion' is the beginning and there's a lot more story to tell," he added.

Although they are still in the early stages of script writing, Wallace admits that several financers have already expressed interest in investing in the project. Considered as the most successful independent film to date, the 2004 movie with a $30 million production budget has earned $612 million.

"It's too early to talk money," said Wallace, adding, "This is such a huge and sacred subject."

On why such a huge success took more than a decade to take on a sequel, Wallace revealed that he and Gibson were only convinced to take on the project after the growing demand by Christians.

"The evangelical community considers 'The Passion' the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger," he explained.

Although Gibson's spokesperson refused to comment, the actor/director's surprise appearance at a graduation ceremony at Liberty University last month was largely responsible for causing the rumors. It's during the said event that he reportedly spoke about his plans of creating the sequel.

Following the industry boycott for his anti-Semitic remarks made worse by charges of physical violence from former girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, Gibson has been out of Hollywood's grace and favor for the longest time."

Like most, he will get Acts of the Apostles wrong. Shame. He did the first nearly verbatim.

Whatever people may think of Mel Gibson, I heard him give a testimony of what he believed around the time that "The Passion" came out and I was totally amazed by what he said and knew about the salvation message. I realize he's a Catholic, however, he sounded like an evangelical believer. When I went to see "The Passion" with a friend of mine, you could hear a pin drop in the movie house. It was not a popcorn and Coca-cola type of film. It was "horrific" in its portrayal of the awfulness that Christ went through for ALL of us. It was truly a fine film. Having said that, I bought the film on DVD but never could get myself to watch it again. I'm glad someone like Gibson had the guts to make that film, though. I would go and see his "Resurrection" film as soon as it comes out. The man has a genius for making films. I really enjoy all of his work, except for "Mad Max."

He's still not saved.

Any faithful Catholic WILL sound like an evangelical believer, because they are.

He's still not saved.

Good grief. (rolls eyes)

Don't remember the name but I saw part of a modern version of the Acts story. They made it look like Peter received the revelation of the mystery; Paul was diminished greatly.

Sounds right. That is the whole point of the debate here. They have it backwards.

The History Channel show on the Bible was decent, right up until Acts of the Apostles. They butchered it because it might be the most important book in the Bible for today. The rise of the gentiles by grace.

Yep. It's fair to say that if you influence how somebody understands Acts, to a large extent you'll determine how they interpret everything that came before it and everything that comes after it.

If Gibson made a scripturally accurate film about book of Acts, the madsters will be outraged.

You'll clap your tiny hands and squee! with religious delight no matter what Gibson farts out, because he's more your brother than any of us are.

The Passion had some Catholic elements in it, I noticed those, but it didn't spoil too much what was actually a decent interpretation of Christ's passion. Gibson put his Hollywood reputation on the line making that film, and I respect him for that.

Nah; his reputation was long since no longer on par with the Hollywood standard of political correctness for the sake of the almighty dollar.
