The identity of mystery Babylon.

The woman (Babylon) of Revelation 17 is described as "arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness:...and upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots." Says the prophet: "I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus."Babylon is further declared to be "that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth." Revelation 17:4-6, 18. The power that for so many centuries maintained despotic sway over the monarchs of Christendom is Rome. The purple and scarlet color, the gold and precious stones and pearls, vividly picture the magnificence and more than kingly pomp affected by the haughty see of Rome. And no other power could be so truly declared "drunken with the blood of the saints" as that church which has so cruelly persecuted the followers of Christ. Babylon is also charged with the sin of unlawful connection with “the kings of the earth.” It was by departure from the Lord, and alliance with the heathen, that the Jewish church became a harlot; and Rome, corrupting herself in like manner by seeking the support of worldly powers, receives a like condemnation. You left out the purple and scarlet of your ecclesiarchy, whoring with kings (governments) and drunk with the blood of martyrs. That's your Rome.

Babylon is a code word for Rome. It is used that way six times in the last book of the Bible [four of the six are in chapters 17 and 18 and in extrabiblical works such as Sibylling Oracles (5, 159f.), the Apocalypse of Baruch (ii, 1), and 4 Esdras (3:1). Eusebius Pamphilius, writing about 303, noted that "it is said that Peter's first epistle... was composed at Rome itself; and that he himself indicates this, referring to the city figuratively as Babylon."

The term Babylon is always modified by great when referring to figurative Babylon.

Peter preached to the Jews. More Jews stayed in the Babylon area than were ever in Rome.

Rome doesn't make sense from a Jewish standpoint. It makes more sense for Peter to go where the Jews are deeply rooted.

I can't hold it in. It is spiritual adulatory to exalt the teachings of any man or woman, including Ellen White and the SDA church or any man made establishment that was founded on ideas of man, this includes the Millerite false prophecy and false recovery through the false doctrine of the investigative judgment, above Jesus.

Israel is still important to God.

Romans 11 testifies of this.

We must not seek crowns made of our fleshly efforts, but exalt the Servant King who wore the crown of thorns, woven out of our hypocritical self righteousness.

It must have been "the good life" for Jews in Babylon, as few of them returned to Jerusalem when given permission. They voluntarily gave up their position with God vis-à-vis the Temple, to pursue riches. I believe that this holds true to this very day. Enormous "riches" have been acquired over the centuries by financing wars through lending to Kings and governments. See "Rothschild" for example.

The colors of the Jewish sanctuary and high priest were blue, scarlet and purple. Look it up if you don't believe me. Jerusalem and Rome have been in collusion since the days of Christ. There is nothing new under the sun. Every Catholic church has a six pointed star in it somewhere.
