This study demonstrates through scripture that there is not just one holy spirit, but many, for each angel is a holy spirit. The study can be found here, http://www.wisdomofgod.co/2016/10/0...gel-and-each-believer-receives-a-holy-spirit/ . Let us begin a discussion on this matter in this thread.

Oops, the Holy Spirit is eternal not created;

Is the Holy Spirit an angel?

The Bible teaches that Holy Spirit is eternal (Heb.9:14) angels were created. The Bible also teaches “God is Spirit” (John 4:24) meaning, uncreated and eternal spirit, not a spirit creature (like angels).

Paul, writing about the Holy Spirit, calls him Lord also “Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty” (2 Cor.3:17).

The Holy Spirit was involved in the creation; (Ps. 104:30, Job 26:13 “By His Spirit He made the heavens.” (Job 33:4).

If the Bible attributes eternality and participation to all three (The Father, Son and Holy Spirit) then we should believe it and not be unbelieving or try to change the word of God because we don’t like what is said.
He was there in the beginning of creation and is still with us today. God specifically says he did not use angels to create anything.

In Mt.1:20 the angel tells Joseph “that which conceived is of the Holy Spirit.” do you believe Jesus was conceived by an angel? absurd. nowhere does the Bible call the Holy Spirit an angel. The Spirit is also attributed to being the author of Holy Scripture - so you believe an angel inspired the Scripture when the Bible says it was God inspired.

Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to live in the living temple, believers bodies are a temple individually and collectively (1 Cor.3:17; 2 Cor.6:16). The Church (the temple- 1 Cor.3:9) are living stones, in Eph.2:19-21 we are the temple (the Church) the dwelling of God, He is in us and with us. In the New covenant, God takes residence inside the believer “you are the temple of God,” “the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Cor. 3:16; Rom 8:9; Jn.14:17) not an angel.

He is called the eternal Spirit (Heb.9:14), as well as the giver of life (Romans 8:2). In Ps.139 there are three omni’s mentioned for the Spirit, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, all are attributes belonging only to God. He is omnipresent, since He would dwell in every believer simultaneously, and throughout history. Furthermore and most important is that He, the Holy Spirit is called God in 1 Cor.6:19, and rightly so, as Jesus also said in John 4:24 “God is Spirit.”
“For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God” (1 Cor. 2:10-11). Only an infinite being can search into the knowledge of God, comprehend it and communicate this to man.

And to make this even more clear:

In John 14:16-17 Jesus says, “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” Jesus said when He left the Father would send another comforter (Greek- Allos paracletos) which means another of the same kind, (stock, generation.) The word allos ‘another” is used 34 times in John’s Gospel; every time it is used personal subjects are in view showing distinction and differences. So the Holy Spirit is not an it, nor and angelic creation. If Jesus is only a human, then he asked for another human to be sent from heaven. In other words he would be of the same nature as he is. If the Spirit is an angel than Jesus would be an angel as well, which we know is not the case.

Mt, 28:19 “…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” We do not get baptized in the name of an angel nor have an angel dwell in us.

The Holy Spirit is God: Gen.1:2; Acts 5:3-4, 1Cor.2:11, 1 Cor.6:19, To have the Spirit in you makes one “the temple of God.”(1 Cor.3:17). “Now the Lord (Yahweh is God Gen. 1:2, Acts 5:) is that Spirit”(Isa.11:2). The Spirit of the Lord (Yahweh) (Romans8:9-16).

Paul as calls him the Spirit of our God (1 Cor.6:11), the Spirit of Jesus (Phil.1:19). As God calls the Spirit “His Spirit” (Num.11:29), “My Spirit” (Gen.6:3), “Spirit of the living God” (2 Cor.3:3). He is called the Spirit of the Father in Mt.10:20, He is called the Spirit of the Lord God in Isa.61:1. He is also called God in 1 Cor.3:16 whom indwells the all believers (1 Cor.6:19). Because He is in us, the Scripture equates Him as God in us (Romans 8:9-11; John 14:23, 15:4; 1 John 4:12-13, 15; 1 Cor.3:16). Paul states we are the temple of God because the Holy Spirit dwells in us, not an angel. Which means God literally indwells the believer as He did in the temple of the Old Testament. 2 Cor.6:16: “For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” If God says He will be in us and it is the Holy Spirit who is in us: that makes the Holy Spirit God.

There is but ONE Holy Spirit, but there are a LEGION of unholy spirits on the earth.
These unholy spirits, often referred to as demons, can possess unbelievers and can pose as "guides".
There are an enormous number of people that are possessed by demons, but they are (for the most part) unaware.
There are even an enormous number of carnal Christians that are under the influence of evil spirits.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. - 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

The angel that guided the Israelites was called a holy spirit, so yes, the scriptures do call angels holy spirits, read for yourself,

In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them. (Isaiah 63:9-10 [NIV])

In the Hebrew Bible, the spirit of God is just the spirit of God. Like inspiration. Not a separate entity. I never understood why Christians take It to be a separate person in the "Godhead". What for? - you need the Son for theological reasons. But why do you need It?

Judges 3:9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
10 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel and went out to war; and the Lord delivered Chushanrishathaim, king of Mesopotamia, into his hand. And his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim;

Judges 6: 34 But the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and the Abiezrites were gathered after him.

Judges 11: 29 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpah of Gilead; and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

We need Him to come and dwell in those who believe. His presence seals us unto the day of redemption.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
