Tech up 3 in overtime and Guy drives to the basket and his own man trips him and he loses the ball out of bounds. Tech has a good chance of extending their lead to 5 or 6 points but the refs say that a Tech player tripped Guy. Then Guy makes two foul throws and Tech is now up only 1 point.
Then later, when Tech had a chance to tie the game or go ahead, a Virginia player knocked the ball out of the hands of a Tech player and it went out of bounds and the ball was given to Virginia. That was a very questionable call and there was not clear enough evidence to overturn the original call giving the ball to Teach but it was overturned!
Tech was fouled numerous times in overtime and not one time did the refs call a foul. On the other hand, Tech was called for six fouls in overtime and Virginia scored twelve points on those fouls.
