He very well could now be saved and God's grace is opened to all. But there are consequences for sin here on Earth whether they are committed by a Christian or an unbeliever. If one robs a grocery store and is found guilty he cannot expect to get out of the punishment for what he did simply because he has been saved since the robbery. Why should this man be any different? If one is saved, they should give God enough respect to be a good witness for Him in owning up to his offenses and should expect to have to pay the consequences to show others that they cannot use "finding God" as an excuse so that one can get away with murder.
