Saved not according to our works but by Gods own Eternal Purpose and Grace!

2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Not being saved by ones works is something the natural man, the religious man cannot receive, even though God has consistently bore testimony to this Truth.

Rom 4:6

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Rom 11:6

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Rom 9:11

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth)

Eph 2:8-9

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

And yes Faith / Believing is a work of the mind, and so the saved are saved apart from their act of Faith/ Believing, all our works are excluded,

So thats why Paul writes that even when we were being enemies, we had been reconciled to God Rom 5:10

0For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

That proves that even the Elects Faith wasnt't a consideration in their being reconciled to God.

Yes reconciliation is Salvation, its being saved legally from the condemnation and penalty of sin, they , the reconciled, can never be charged with sin and its consequences Rom 4:8, and their final Salvation is ensured by the Life of Christ Rom 5:10

0 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Yet the main point should not be lost, and thats , being saved wasnt by their works, not by anything they did or did not do, because they were saved even while being enemies to God !

You missed out power. Purpose and grace are of no use unless He applies His Mighty might.

Eternal purpose, grace and power.

You deny the power though don't you. You think that conversion and regeneration are simply doctrines and not an experience. In fact you mock the idea that Elohim exerts His power on miserable rebels and brings them into subjection.

You missed out power because you have never experienced it.

The creation of the heavens and the earth were purposed. Therein was to be shown the grace of Elohim. Without Almighty power nothing would have happened. "And Elohim said, Let there be Light and light became".

The same applies to the new creation. The sinner dwells in darkness and unless the words "let there be light" are directed at the wretched sinner then nothing happens. You have doctrines, but not the experience of the effects of those words, "Let there be light".

According to your posts the term "Let there be Calvinism" applies and in Calvin you think you have life.

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who trust, according to the working of his mighty power. Ephesians 1:19

us-ward: The redeemed who will be regenerated and granted repentance by that power.

Now according to my text the Elect were saved not according to our works, believing, repenting, all of which is in time, but according:

but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

We were saved according to Gods #1 Own Purpose ! What Purpose ?

The word purpose here is used a few more times by Paul here :

Rom 8:28 ; 9:11 where its especially designated Gods Purpose according to Election

Also see Eph 1:11; 3:11

11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

#2. Not only saved according to Gods Own Purpose, but By His Grace, given us in Christ Jesus before time. This is something the natural mind of man cannot receive.

How that Believers in time had been given Grace in Christ before the world began. Even if it isnt explained, God given Faith receives this Truth. Thats what Faith primarily does, it takes God at His word !

Exactly Right!

The reason why God's Elect experience New Birth in time, and Given Faith Gal. 5:22, is evidence of them already being Reconciled to God, Saved / Justified from Everlasting, and that's before they are born in time, and do anything at all! So that's why they can never come under any condemnation because they were Chosen in Union with Christ Jesus Rom. 8:1, their Surety Saviour Heb. 7:22. Therefore they need do nothing in themselves, for all the Work in Saving them was already perfectly accomplished on their behalf!

Rom. 5:9-10

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more,
being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Justification before God is a right standing before God as Judge, before the Justified ones ever knew anything about it!

The whole world has been reconciled to God by the blood of Christ but the whole world does not come to repentance and experience conversion. And of those who experience genuine conversion only a fraction ever reach maturity and bear fruit. The conundrum where Calvin made shipwreck of his faith and multitudes that came after and follow him. Boy is he ever going to have some explaining to do when he stands before the judgment seat of Christ!

Excellent Speech, Thank you !

You're one of the converts who has been choked out by the pride of life aka organized religion which is the idolatry of our day. Every organized religion is run by a false prophet that you have to bow down to, to be a member. Idolatry was universal in the OT and it is almost universal in our day as well.

People, the elect, are saved according to the purpose of God. The word purpose does not refer to an impotent wish, but to a certain, immutable, unbreakable decree. Its the word prothesis:

a setting forth, i.e. (figuratively) proposal (intention); specially, the show-bread (in the Temple) as exposed before God:—purpose, shew(-bread).

The word is used of Jesus Christ being designated the Surety of His People before the world began Rom 3:25

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God Cp 1 Pet 1:20

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

The word purpose is used as it relates to Gods Elect in Christ pertaining to their Salvation, hence they are the called according to Gods Purpose which is Salvaic Rom 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This call pertains also to the purpose of election Rom 9:11

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth)

Its grounded in predestination Eph 1:4-5,11

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

This purposes originated before the world began 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

So this Salvaic purpose to save His elect had no external, outside of Himself influence.

If believing God was some kind of human work deserving of reward then God would not encourage people to believe God. Faith is not a work and whosoever worketh not but believeth in God shall be saved.
