I feel the answer to that question comes with the experience of serving Him.
<I want to make this non-personal>
How can anyone serve without intimacy with Him that we hear and speak His words and not our own?
Here is what I am getting at ___ Jesus said this to His Disciples at the finish of His transfiguration:
"And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead." Matthew 17:7-9 (KJV)
Vs9 is where, if we place the spiritual connotation on it to understand it to mean 'until the Son of man is risen within you otherwise, you will not know how to explain what it is I have made you privy to', we can understand the ultimate need for saying anything of Christ is by cultivating our intimacy with Him. This goes hand in glove with our need to embrace John 17:3 by our seeking to "know" God as a son.
I have taken quite a few funeral services but on Wednesday I have to take a funeral for a person who was involved with the spiritist movement, the church will be full of spiritists! That will be anew experience for me and intimacy with my Lord is of paramount importance for I have to declare His truth and at the same time be sensitive to a grieving family. This will be a time of learning and appreciation for me.

Personally, I wouldn't do it unless someone I had trust in, one who understood as I understand the issues at a hand, would go with me for the sole purpose of praying for me and against the powers of darkness thru the whole service, the whole time I am there __ and even before __ perhaps a night of prayer the evening before.
Otherwise, who will you be serving in this, God or the family? If the family, you serve Satan. You can't serve God if you don't speak the truth. If you compromise you won't serve either, only the enemy of the souls sitting there.
Thanks for sharing this. I will be in prayer for you on Wednesday.
