Ok, y'all know what I mean, they are those threads meant for a select few.
Only you may not know that until you accidentally post on them - and then - in much the same as finding you have just stepped in a fresh cow patty while walking through the back pasture, you realize you are standing in sh*t.
People may tell you cowboys and cowgirls have pointy
toed boots to goad their horses along if need be. But if the dung is dry enough those pointy toed boots are perfect for pooh kicking.
But I digress.
What about these threads, Ladies and Gentleman, Rednecks and Geeks,
Hamsters and Wheels?
Do we tip toe around not posting on what may look like ordinary threads because we have found they may not be ordinary?
They may be Special?
In fact they may be so very special, and run by the tender, the sensitive, the select and the determined to stay so - that you may get castigated, negative repped, or even suffer PTSD after it is all over - partly because of the shock coming from thinking you knew this place, the rules, the people - when really you now find you did not.
Take the Cigar Smokers Thread though as your first example, please.
You may not see it very often but it will come up ever so often - and guess what? Cigar Smokers will oft post on it.
I don't smoke but I will post on it too, because, well that is another story.
But do you say away from it because it may seem special?
Guess what they do about my posting on it?
Do they cry? Point their unforgiving possibly stained finger at me?
Hurt my heart?
No. They give as they take and I leave them then alone.
Now TH has asked me to stay off the HOFer's thread. I think Jimmy Hoffa would be proud of him for being so bossy.
But should I stay off?
Should you?
Please share your opinions, thank you.
