2 Cor 5:21
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
This is to say, as a result of Christ being made sin for us, made sin means a sin offering(Isa 53:10
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand)
We were made the Righteousness of God in Him.
Plainly, His being made sin for us, is His Death for our sins, which in turn reciprocates by making those He was made sin for, Righteous/Justified before God, which the resurrection of Christ affirms !
This is vividly seen in Rom 4:25
Who was delivered for[because of] our offences[Made a sin offering], and was raised again for[because of] our justification/adjudging righteous.
The word for Justification here dikaiósis:
acquittal, justifying, justification, a process of absolution.
the act of God's declaring men free from guilt and acceptable to him; adjudging to be righteous
This certainly teaches Limited Atonement, that Christ's death was only for some, those who are made the righteousness of God in Him !

Now to be made the righteousness of God, is to be made righteous in the sight of God, by the imputation of the righteousness of Christ :John Gill
