Now they want to take away freedom of speech!

Americans in the leftist enclave of San Diego, California eagerly signed a petition to ban talking about politics or religion in public.

It was a prank to show how ignorant the general public is when it comes to our basic rights.

We need to (amongst other things) take back our Education system so that kids know the importance of these things before graduating from High School.

Did you notice that it was edited so we have no way of knowing how many people refused to sign?

Did you notice how he lied, saying that "the city council has asked us to gather signatures," because harm was being done to the tourist industry and harming the city of Oceanside?

There's a skill set used to persuade people, and I saw him using several different principles of persuasion. This was more an illustration of those principles and their effectiveness than it was of a "leftist" ideology of people at the beach.

Also: Oceanside is a military town, its elected representatives are Republican, and its city council voted unanimously in 2004 to add "In God We Trust" to a city plaque.

:chuckle:

That wasn't the purpose of the article, it was to show how many ignorant people there are in our country that would even think about signing a petition that steals away our basic rights.

It was a prank petition. He used the excuse of financial harm to the city to see if people would sell out their God-given constitutional rights to freedom of speech and religion (and people did).

An educated populace, no matter what "skill set" is used, know their basic rights and would never give them away.

Then the petitioner must have got liberal tourists to sign it, as the residents of Oceanside without a doubt know better.

I know it was a prank petition and I know why he did it. That was a given.
