Hi to all and many have a nHARD TIME with WATER BAPTISM and its VARIOUS meaning and when WATER / HYDOR is used !!
In Acts 18:8 it reads like this : But Crispus , the ruler of the synagogue , believed ( in ) the Lord with his whole house, and many of nthe Corinthians hearing , were believeing and were being BAPTIZED / BAPTIZO !!
#1 , One poster may believe , since Paul was in Acts 18:1 , that Paul did the water baptism , NO !!
#2 , In verse 4 , Paul was preaching to Jews on every Sabbath !!
#3 In verse 5 it says what Paul was preaching to these Jews and Greeks , and it was JESUS WAS THE CHRIST in other words that Jesus was the MESSIAH !!
#4 In verse 8 they Believed and where WATER / HYDOR ,BAPTIZO or Baptized !!
#5 The reason that they were WATER BAPTIZED is because they were LAW KEEPERS and Baptism is part of the Law and becuase of Acts 2:38 !!
#6 Here is the GOOD PART as , The second verb BELIEVED , is in the Greek IMPERFECT TENSE and the verb WERE BAPTIZED is also in the Greek IMPERFECT TENSE !!
#7 In other words the IMPERFECT TENSE means that BAPTISM began in Matt 3 and would soon STOP at Acts 28:28 and Acts 18:6 confirms it !!
#8 Paul did not do the Water Baptism as in Acts 21:21 Paul was teaching AGAINST THE LAW of MOSES !!
