There is no greater event in human history than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is a declartion by God the Father that his Son Jesus Christ has, "Spoiled principalities and powers (Satan) and has made a show of them openly, triumph over them in it" Colossians 2:15.
"Jesus is Lord" and he is Lord over ALL THINGS. By his mighty work he has justified the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and has reconciled us and a world of lost sinners unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19.
Only about 10% of the Christian community believes the Gospel and live their lives according to it. The other 90% don't believe it and continue to remain religious. You cannot say that you believe the Gospel and then continue to be religious or to teach religion. Maybe that is why Jesus said, "And few there be that find it" Matthew 7:14.
Calvinist do NOT believe the Gospel. They do not believe that they have been justified by Jesus Christ, nor do they believe that Jesus has reconciled the world unto God. They believe that they have been saved by being predestinated. There is no scripture anywhere in the Bible about anyone being predestinated to heaven or to hell. The doctrine of predestination is false and makes God unjust.
Catholics do not believe the Gospel that justifies the ungodly and reconciles the world unto God. Many Catholics believe that the Gospel is, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Some believe that it is the grace of Jesus working in their heart that will make them pleasing to God. This is why Paul said, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23.
Organized religion and the Gospel of Jesus Christ are not compatible. There is to much freedom in the Gospel. The only way that organized religion can exist is by keeping its members under the law. The Gospel frees us from the law and causes us to be led by the Spirit and not the law. The law says do. The Gospel says done. We who believe the Gospel are not trying to be like Jesus (the law) we are resting in the work and the person of Christ, Hebrews 4:10.
