One reason there are so many pulpits preaching the law is that they follow the teaching of Jesus Christ in the red letter books.

Matthew-John record the ministry of Jesus to Israel under the law. Jesus was born under the law, walked sinlessly according to the law, and taught the law perfectly (Matt 5:17).

He brought light to their misunderstandings, exposed their traditions, and identified the most important lessons of the law.

Jesus was the best teacher of the law (Rom 15:8). Christians who follow his ministry to Israel learn to be good teachers of the law. They can expose self-righteous hypocrisy, traditions of men, and preach the need for walking in love, mercy, and faith

Making His ministry to Israel the pattern for the pulpit will create good law teachers, but it will not communicate the gospel of the grace of God.

No one is saved today under the law nor by walking according to a perfect understanding of the law.

Being a good teacher of the law is not communicating the gospel of the grace of God.

A good teacher of the law was not required to understand the cross (Luke 18:31-34). Preaching grace requires understanding the glory of Christ’s cross. This grace from God was not revealed until later after his resurrection.

The law can help men see their need for the Saviour, but it cannot save. The gospel of grace is preaching the cross of Christ unto salvation without the law (1 Cor 1:18).

Salvation by the cross was not revealed in our Lord’s ministry to Israel under the law, but now the simplest message of grace excels the greatest teaching of the law.

“I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” – Galatians 2:21
If we are to be proper ministers of Christ today, we must beware of “desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm” (1 Tim 1:6-7).

Christ is now working to create faithful teachers of his grace, not the law. This is not patterned after His ministry to Israel, but after His ministry through Paul, the apostle of grace.

For better understanding,

Justin “grace teacher” Johnson

But what are your thoughts? This is one reason that I grew weary of TOL in years past, people would post content without giving their opinion of the content. I want to know what YOU think of it. This is a discussion forum after all.

In fact, scrolling through this particular sub-forum, it is full of your posts of Johnson's content. If I wanted to read Johnson's teachings, which I do from time to time, I would go directly to his site. I want YOUR thoughts on the matter. Otherwise, I'll just go to Johnson's website and contact him directly to let him know my thoughts on his material.

@Adam When I post an article from GraceAmbassadors, it's because I thoroughly agree with it. I have found Justin's teachings to be the best around. He (and GraceAmbassadors) are quite Pauline Mid-Acts and that is why I post many of his works in this particular forum (i.e., Mid-Acts Dispensationalism).

In general, I have over 30000 posts here, so it's not hard to know what I think and the number of posts that are just someone else's writings are minimal. If you have something that you would like to discuss with me, have at it.

What I believe is that the "Christian world" (which I often refer to as "Churchianity") is a complete mess primarily due to its lack of right division. It is a convoluted mashing of things that are different.

I agree, we are in a huge mess because very few people understand or accept Paul's apostleship and unique gospel. It breaks so many things in our society.

My issue is not solely with you, however, it dates back 3 decades. My complaint in the 1990s was receiving emails where the subject line was "Fw: FW: fw: FW: Fw: fw: You have got to read this!!!" from all my friends and acquaintances. Instead of giving me their thoughts on God, life, and love, they would just forward stuff all day long. That is not genuine interaction. I can go get all the doctrine, theology, news, inspiration, and entertainment I want on my own. I have search engines just like everyone else. However, if we are in a discussion forum, I want to discuss. Share the article, and even if you agree with it, tell me why or share some snippet, otherwise I will just ignore it, even if I agree with it completely like you do.

I think that you picked the wrong person to complain to, as you will see plenty of interaction from me here on TOL.

I'll try to do better ... just for you.
