We know that the Temple faced eastward, across the Kidron Valley.
The most logical place for the Romans to display crucifixions
would have been 200 meters east across the Kidron Valley at the
southern end of the Mount of Olives. Presently, this area is
known as Silwan, and has been occupied by Palestinians.
Northward, is a very populous and prestigious cemetery,
which would be the logical place for Jesus to have been buried.
Of course, this conjecture is in opposition to ancient traditions.
