God's Grace (favor) is never given to those that do not merit it.
Most people are confused because Paul mentions several times that we cannot obligate God to look upon us with favor through our works.
But many, in that day, will be judged by their works [deeds] to determine what they were based upon, will they not? In this, the righteous will scarcely be saved. (1Peter 4:18 KJV) For understanding this, I like my interpretation of Eph 1:1 KJV,
"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to [those learning how to be ]
faithful in Christ Jesus"
. .
It is up to God and the Son of God to determine what merits God's Grace (favor).
Yes! And our part?
Throughout the Bible God has told us what we can do to merit His Grace.
Can one have such faith having never heard the gospel?
Question: What is the gospel purposed for if not to expose the god
of our life and make a discussion about them??
Some of those things are fearing God, believing in the name of the Son of God, and humbling ourselves before God.
Absolutely! And all this in the afterwards of our salvation.
