Escape from Alcatraz

I was in the camp that said they drowned on that pathetic little raft, or froze in the water. Until the mythbusters built the real raft and went all the way to the shore on it at night in bad weather.

Then it became possible. Anybody watch the show last night with the picture from Brazil? Two hippies in the 70s and the Anglin family says that is the two brothers. Scanning the image digitally, blowing it up and looking at the bone structure, eyebrows line, ears, all that stuff and comparing to known pictures of them shows it is them.

They made it afterall. Don't forget, they and Frank Morris are criminals. If they are still alive.

Always figured they must've drowned too. But a part of me was rooting for 'em to make it regardless. Very interesting. Might yet prove to be a hoax but I sure hope not.

Considering the Marshall who investigated the escape for 20 years says the picture is real and it is them, I don't see how it is a hoax. Unlike Brushy Bill Roberts who is not Billy the Kid. They did the same thing to his picture, and it was obvious they are not the same person. Yet, people keep talking about him and saying it is possible.

I watched. I was struck with how hardship and hopelessness affects people differently.
Without hope I would risk my life to attain freedom too.

Like many, I had seen the documentaries of the paper mache heads and escape. But the sea crossing's only visual was the movie with Clint Eastwood. And seeing that I thought "no way". Then I saw the Mythbusters and they rebuilt the raft according to the 4th member testimony, they one who could not get out.

They showed a picture of a roof and all the rubber jackets they cut up. It wasn't a few, it had to be a hundred. They made a triangle raft and made it. They were tired but said their spirits got much better after a while when they got close.

What channel, you say it was Mythbusters ? I rooted for the bad guys sometimes in movies. When I saw the movie and documentaries I always thought it was possible and they did it. It's only water, people can do amazing things especially when facing death or when desperate.

I just always thought they got away. Are you saying there is video proof of one of the guys in Brazil today ? Why wouldn't they arrest him ?

Honestly, I hope they made it. It'd be a bummer if this turned into a Hitler Diaries thing--and don't forget Jack the Ripper's been positively identified about nineteen thousand times.
