All traditions were new when they first started. Holidays are usually very uplifting no matter its background. I support people who celebrate their holidays, and use meaning-making through symbols of all kinds. No sincerely celebrated holiday is fake.

But in all seriousness, recognition of what God has done for mankind is a good thing, and too many holidays causes them all to lose their value.
In other words, celebrating fake or made up holidays is celebrating lies. And we know who the father of lies is...
