This is probably old news to some who watch the show, but this was one of my favorite moments on the show.
Susan Boyle auditions for Britain's Got Talent (an offshoot of American Idol).
She is a frumpy spinster in her 40's who has never been kissed and lives with her cats.
She is rather clumsy and confussed, and says she would like the chance to sing and be as famous as Elaine Paige (famous diva singer).
Simon, and the audience, smirk at her and make fun of her, ...... that is, until she opens her mouth to sing, and stuns them all into silent awe.
She did go on to become famous, and even got to sing a duet with Elaine Paige.
