Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

If you don't understand and believe in original sin, you are in a very poor spiritual condition! If the Holy Spirit teaches Christians anything, it is that all humans are born with an inherited sin nature. This is a most fundamental doctrine and is the main reason why the Word was sent to...

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

One question for thou ... What do you make of all the Scriptures in the OP which are supposed to teach us that ... man is totally incapable of choosing Jesus and the Gospel (on his/her own)?

    Understanding God’s election

Our God is a God of JUSTICE ... the unrighteous who sin are to be punished. But, our God is a God of MERCY and GRACE (undeserved favor) ... so, He decided to save some of the human race. Since they were/are totally incapable of choosing Jesus and the Gospel (as per the OP) ... He had/has to give...

How does the JR pay you to espouse His false beliefs and to call people names? By the year, month, week, day, post ... what?

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

Of course, He is ... but, according to His definition, not yours. God's whole justice is >>> sin is to be punished. The righteous will go unpunished. The unrighteous are to be punished. That's His justice system, like it or not. Now, if He chooses to give some unrighteous sinners His grace...

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

God is unjust in your opinion (and that of many others), and God is unjust by your definition (and that of many others). This why the Gospel is presented to appear to be just ... open to everyone. It must be presented in a positive note. God has chosen to whom of the habitually sinful human...

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

NO! ... What percentage of people hearing the Gospel are born again? A rather small percentage. After God gave Lydia the necessary faith to believe ... Paul preached the Gospel to her, and she believed. "... that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance."...

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

Excuses, excuses, and more excuses! The point is ... Lydia needed God to open her heart - so she could believe! Period, and end of story ... we hope!

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

"Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul." (Acts 16:14, NKJV) 'Tis most obvious ... "the Lord opened her heart" (the Gospel did NOT open her heart) ... so she...

Yes, God opened her heart to believe what Paul was saying. I.E. God gave her the ability to understand and believe.

    Understanding God’s election

“And those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?” But He (Jesus) said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” (Luke 18:26-27) Since man is so messed up with his sin nature and with being a captive (slave) of Satan ... he is just not capable of believing in...

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

Dearest R/D, He's missing the whole point, which is ... If the God-worshipping Lydia (Acts 16:14) needs God to give her the necessary faith to believe in Jesus and the Gospel, surely everyone does also!

Unable to Believe the “Foolish” Gospel

Because of what is clearly stated in the NT … unredeemed man is NOT able to believe in Jesus and the “foolish” Gospel due to a multitude of reasons! (The Gospel is “foolishness” to those who are perishing, 1 Cor. 1:18) Here are some of the best NT passages which testify to this: Inherited sin...

    Understanding God’s election

What do you think about God saying, paraphrased: "I will bless those I want to, and I will curse those I want to." Theologans such as R. C. Sproul believe that ... "Salvation is all about God, from beginning to end." God the Father gives us the faith to believe. God the Holy Spirit sanctifies...

    Understanding God’s election

The whosoevers are those who believe (e.g. John 3:16). They have been given the faith necessary to believe, which overcomes their total inability to believe as per the 2 reasons at the top of the OP.
