More US women killed by intimate partners than by any other group of people

And there are actually "men" here at TOL who are blubbering out deranged rationalizations for a husband beating their wife to death.

Is this supposed to be an argument? What is the argument supposed to be?

Premise: Most women who are murdered are murdered by their intimate partners.
Conclusion: Therefore, beating a woman to death is never morally acceptable.

I believe the term for this is non sequitur.

Hey, Zoo, how about this argument?

Premise: Of all murders, most of them are committed by black people.
Conclusion: All black people should be shipped back to Africa.

This argument is roughly as good as the one you gave. :p

One final consideration, if we are just throwing around conclusions that we like, regardless of how the premises and conclusion relate to each other, how do you like this argument, Zoo?

Premise: The sky is blue and the grass is green.
Conclusion: The State should hire an Italian chef to feed Traditio for the rest of his life at public expense.

No the argument is this. There is a serious issue with men murdering there partners.

So for some retard to spout off about how domestic violence can be justified is not only idiotic, its also amoral and dangerous.

You really have become a first rate tool.

1. I fail to see how the conclusion follows.

Are there domestic abusers who are reading my postings, for whom reading my postings may mean the difference between them killing their wives and not killing them?

2. I haven't "spouted off" about domestic violence. Even to call it "spouting off about domestic violence" is to beg the question in favor of your position.

At any rate, the argument is clearly fallacious. It smacks of argumentum ad misericordiam. "Look at all of these poor women who are murdered by their husbands. You shouldn't talk about whether or not any woman ever deserves to be killed by her husband. Boo hoo. Boo hoo."

The truth is you don't know, what we do know is domestic violence is nurtured by a narrative that will justify, minimize and apologise for violence within a relationship.

You seem to have no concept of the fact that your purile posts add to that narrative.

Yes it does, why because I don't believe your position deserves a fair argument and hearing. It is flawed at an instinctual level and needs no debate or discussion.

In effect: "BOOOO!"

Since your posting isn't based on reason, then you must forgive me if I don't consider it worthy of any serious response. :idunno:

I will note in passing, however, that I could make the same claim about pro-homosexual and pro-abortion rhetoric.

In fact, abstractly considered, it's probably much worse to murder an unborn child than to murder an adult, whether that adult be male or female. Nor is there any question of an unborn child ever meriting death through its own criminal deeds.

False premise. Domestic violence is nurtured by alcohol, drugs, and selfishness....the lusts of the flesh and the pride of life.

Yeah. Nobody is going to start beating their wives because of the obscure and highly qualified statements of a random philosophy student on a theology forum.

It's telling the way some "men" here get so irate and defensive when they're confronted with the awful facts about women being beaten by their husbands and boyfriends.

Sick people.

Yeah, to think someone is going to beat their wife because of the academic ramblings of a young philosophy prof is out of their minds.

I'm not irate or defensive. I simply fail to see how it's relevant to the topic(s) currently under discussion, in relation to which you posted these facts.

Let's give you some truth serum and let everyone peek inside that psyche of yours. Wonder if your accusation would bounce like a boomerang?

Indeed. Outside of defending one's child or self, there is no excuse for physically assaulting another person.

Actually it wasn't booze or anything like that that started the first sin. It was unbelief.

Only an unbeliever would rape or murder their spouse. So ideas are at the heart of the problem. Wicked ideas that are the cause of the spiritual deaths in man since Adam like poison apples.

Ideas make people angry and hateful. Ideas cause people to lose hope or hold on to it.

Are you thinking some here aren't aware that women get beat up by their husbands and boyfriends....and that it been happening since the dawn of time? Did you know that children are beaten to death by their own parents? Did you know that women are hiring hit men to kill their husbands, and they're poisoning them ...even shooting them?

Yeah, it's a world filled with sin and we see it everywhere. So why are you focused on the poor women instead of the poor children and men who are targets of the same violence? Is there something special about women that is not special about children and men?

Uh...uh....uh....the people I trust seem to make women special cases or imply they are special through word and deed. To me, this means it must be true. Conservatives don't make a big deal out of women victims and you know how stupid and evil they are. This means I don't have to think for myself and just go with the group think for the people I trust.

I am talking as if I'm zoo.
