92% of NYC restaurants unable to pay rent in December

You want to see how destructive lockdowns are? Only 8% of NYC restaurants could afford to pay their rent. Think about what that means. It's going to cause the loss of an entire industry in NYC. And where are those who lose their jobs supposed to find another job? That's a whole lot of heartache, stress, and anger in those being tossed out on their ear by Cuomo and DeBlasio. I feel for them. They are losing their way of life through no fault of their own. Their losing their ability to feed, house and clothe themselves just so the Democrats could get rid of Trump.

If this doesn't tell you how corrupt, cold, and uncaring socialists are nothing will ever teach you this lesson.

Restaurants that did stay open offered takeout and delivery service, but not dine in. I don't know why 92% of NYC restaurants couldn't pay their rent if they offered takeout and delivery service. During the height of the pandemic, had restaurants offered dine in service, I doubt that many people would have used it.

Youse is pretty ignorant. Cuomo would only allow 25% of capacity when he has allowed restaurants to operate. We have a good Mexican restaurant here and they barely survived on take out when the Democrat loon governor in this state shut down restaurants to doing nothing but take out and delivery. Other restaurants have folded as they just couldn't withstand the loss of revenue. That includes one that had been in operation 40 years. Plus they had really good food. These lockdowns are killing the small businesses. And yet Walmart, the only large food and department store in town is going great guns. This is nothing but an attack on small business and the destruction of the middle class.

I don't know about NY but here in UK our restaurants, cafes and other food services have adjusted by offering take-away and delivery services. Some have made very high profits during the lockdowns because of increased business.

The local McDonalds and KFC units have been frantically busy with vehicle queues stretching out on to and along the main roads.

New York Landlords might want to think about their futures because if they get rid of hard-up tenants now, who will rent from them when the lockdowns end? A previously good tenant can be a good tenant again. We've all had to shoulder losses during this pandemic.

This isn't a political issue. Nobody decided "out of the blue" to destroy people's livelihoods. This epidemic has costs, both in life and in economy, and it is very difficult to balance things- especially when there are so many unknowns.

Lockdowns cause real damage- I don't think anybody denies that. They are a necessary evil.

So you've told me before, but then it wouldn't be one of your posts if you didn't start off with kind loving words.

Which is what's going on now in many States and has nothing to do with takeout and delivery services that a respective restaurant may offer to stay in business.

It's tough times all around, but I have to question the 92% number if those restaurants attempted to stay in business through takeout and delivery services.
