    The Religion of Blinding Bluster

I have no absolute right - that's for sure. Being in public carries inherent risks. I live a block from a bar. If a bloke who looked somewhat like me just attacked someone's wife and I had walked out in the middle of events and the husband saw me walking toward his wife and hit me in an attempt...

The growing problem of dead people voting in American elections

Dozens of saints came out of their tombs and returned to their towns when Jesus was resurrected (per Matthew 27-28). Surely, they deserved the right to vote.

    The Religion of Blinding Bluster

Objective morality exists but there are two central practical problems with it. There is one subjective presupposition needed to base the objectivity on AND we do not have unambiguous access to what is the most moral. The value of human well-being over suffering is a central. If we refuse to...

    The Religion of Blinding Bluster

I think the difficulty here is the highly charged terminology. Murder, rape, and abuse is always wrong, but killing a human, commandeering reproductive biology, and hurting people is usually wrong, but conceivably could be necessary for the greater good under highly improbable conditions.

Nice. Good form. Hope to see you use this phrase more. We could just respect our differences and allow the other to live life according to personal conscience. Or is that too new age for you? I am a mass of molecules evolved from systematic processes including some elements of chance but...

    The Religion of Blinding Bluster

That's reality. Being human means getting used to uncertainty. It's not a free for all because various facts and beliefs carry varying degrees of certainty. Experience over time is your guide. You are an ultra-maroon. But ad hominems get old especially when you are attacking someone who is...

    The Religion of Blinding Bluster

Somehow I don't think the type of people you mention are not going to be able to reflect on their own personality, attitude, and behavior. Lack of insight is pretty much their hallmark.

Yes - the interface of a mutation that "already exists" and the impact of the associated trait on fecundity creates new information. To process this you need to be able to sequence the events, think of the consequence on the population over time, and understand the impact of two variables at...

Not much, you? Correct. Tell right divider and JR as it is there go-to response. Theists with integrity. You will see. As stigma lifts, it will be clear that 3% of the population is exclusively homosexual and 6% Bisexual-Predominantly homosexual. Yes they did. While a small subset of the...

    Atheist Morality

Death of a human would suffice. Yet you fail to demonstrate it. When the emotional pull outweighs the value of the evidence, it is inherently wrong because the substance of the case might not determine the outcome. You think it just to give into bias? Only in the warped mind of a zealot...

    Religious Zealotry

Only if magical thinking is your thing. Wrong. Check out the Cosmic Skeptic on youtube. He was raised Catholic, an atheist in high school and got a theology degree at Oxford and found no compelling reason to believe in God. Even advanced apologists grant atheists room for uncertainty, and do...

Right. Here again wild claims are made about a relatively tame reference guide for teachers who are specifically encouraged to use it only as a frame of reference to be adapted for particular students. Someone has taken the guide and made inflammatory statements in the margins to point out the...

marke, You did not even review the primary source document that you provide! And, you accuse others of being uniformed? I have skimmed the proposed curriculum for fourth and fifth grade. 1) The term sexual intercourse comes up once in fourth, twice in the fifth grade. The occurrences do not...

    Religious Zealotry

There is truly no compelling evidence that God or gods even exist. Syllogisms don't cut it. The Bible is suspect as a source- period. Yet- you act like you have direct knowledge and endorse the view that people who commit non-violent transgressions should die. You are simply a hateful person...

Of course it does. You must remember that I am not a binar like you and your friends. You are a binar by choice as I see on occasion that you can think in terms of a continuums when it serves you. I advocate for authoritative parenting rather than authoritarian. In authoritative parenting...

Whose doing that? Would it be reasonable to tell an eight year old child: as they get older usually boys like to kiss girls, girls like to kiss boys, less often some boys like to kiss boys, some girls like to kiss girls, some like to kiss both. People have different ideas about what is okay...
